How to post corrections to previous period

If correction is effective from previous period, which is closed for posting (G/L posting dates closed), then changed on Lease card shall be done retrospectively (in order to get correct figures), but G/L postings will go to current period (catch-up). This is achieved using “Posting Date Overwrite” feature.
Use Posting Date Overwrite functionality respects allowed posting period in General Ledger Setup and overwrites Posting date for GL entries if needed. To enable Posting Date Overwrite functionality in SOFT4Lessee. Go to Setup->Lease Setup -> Accounting Settings and flag “Use Posting Date Overwrite” option.

Standard MS 365 BC functionality allows to set posting period to GL. To use this, go to Setup->General Ledger Setup and enter posting period into “Allow posting from” and “Allow posting to” fields.

#### Scenario:
2020-January is already closed. Posting to GL allowed only in 2020-February. Enter Lease agreement into the system with commencement date 2020-January, activate and run Post to GL function for period 2020-01-01..2020-01-31. See General Ledger (per Lease).

1. Enter Lease Agreement with Commencement Date 2020-01-01. Sign and Activate it.
   
2. Run Post to G/L function for period 2020-01-01..2020-01-31

3. Open General Ledger (Per Lease) and see posting date overwrite to the closest allowed posting date in General Ledger Setup.

#### Scenario 2:
2020-January is already closed. Posting to GL allowed only in 2020-February. Lease agreement, which was entered, activated and posted to GL in 2019-Jaunuary needs to be reversed.

1. Open Lease Agreement card. Go to Setup->Admin->Reverse G/L Postings. Enter “From Date” 2020-01-01 and “To Date” 2020-01-31 and apply Lease No. filter to reverse only entries for specific lease.
   

2. Reverse G/L Postings function reverse all G/L Entries in selected period and will overwrite posting date, to opened period in General Ledger Setup.
3. Open General Ledger (Per Lease) and see that posting date for reversal entries were overwrite to the closest allowed posting date in General Ledger Setup.
